On Her Cheek, Rain and Little Bird
Allo mes anges

Couldn't sleep, so figured I'd visit this ol' cafe to ponder and reflect on things... my friend CaysE (aka l'ange del soir) and I were talking tonight and he sent me a little snippet of a poem he wrote... I hope he doesn't mind me sharing it with all of you. It's from a piece called On Her Cheek:

rough hands
on soft cheek
dreams for a week
of your lips
inches away

silk strands
fingers seek
whispering speak
a tear slips
while smiles stay

I thought it was quite lovely. Here's a poem that I haven't put up here before that I was recently reconciled with. It's called Rain from June 17, 2002:

RAIN

Pitter patter
down they come
"don't worry" you said.
"You can handle it" you said
Pitter patter
down they come
"You'll be stronger" you said
The beating of the drums fill my ears
down they come
a little harder now
"They'll help you later" you said
"You'll be stronger."
Boom Boom
down they come
harder and harder
pushing me pushing me
farther and farther
DOWN DOWN
"there's nothing wrong" you said
"stop your crying"
bullets from the sky
down they come
harder and harder
crushing me crushing me
Can't you see my pain?
can't you feel my hurt?
"don't worry" you said
"there's nothing wrong.
YES THERE IS
Pitter patter
down they come

Here's another poem I wrote about an elderly lady that I knew from my childhood... she lived in an assisted living facility (IE nursing home) for many years and I would come to visit her and one day she just wasn't there.... she had died a month earlier and they never told me about her death or her funeral... they wouldn't even tell me where she was buried.... so Isabelle, this one's for you; from March 11, 2003

LITTLE BIRD

Little bird
where did you go?
You were there -
all through my meloncholy childhood
You gave me sweets to touch my heart
I gave you song to soothe your soul
I gave you sunshine in your prison
I was your breath of fresh air
But where did you go?
You were there for so long -
I never thought you would leave me
But I came to see you,
only to find another bird in your cage.
What happened?
Where's my little bird?
"She's flown away" they told me -
"Flown to heaven to sing Him to sleep."
I wanted that song
I wanted my little bird in her cage -
but I couldn't keep you locked up
You wanted to go free,
but I didn't let you
Now you're free - theif in the night
Singing Him sweet songs of all His praise
All I know is that my little bird is gone -
but to a better place
Little bird -
Where did you go?
She went to heaven
Now she's an angel.

Remember to let me under your skin, then I'll begin to make things better mes anges.
